Weekly Esports Job Roundup #63

Coaching with TSM, social media with SteelSeries and community marketing with Discord: it's been another great week!

Another Monday means another esports jobs roundup, and we’ve got all the trimmings you’ve come to expect in our weekly feature. From the classic social media work in esports to positions coaching professional players in the biggest teams in the world, you’ll find some really nice careers in this week’s installment!

Why we love this job:

  • It’s not your usual esports coaching job. TSM needs someone to coach their LoL players in the individual positions they plan in (jungle, mid, etc).
  • You’ll be able to get involved in one of the most storied LoL orgs there is.
  • It’s a junior job coaching TSM!!!

What you’ll need to make it yours:

  • Expert knowledge of competitive League of Legends
  • The ability to provide critical feedback to the players you coach
  • Google Drive mastery

Why we love this job:

  • Discord has become the de facto platform for gamers to communicate. You might even be sending this job through to your friends over Discord tonight!
  • It doesn’t need years of experience - it just needs core skills and a relevant degree
  • The company voice that Discord has mastered is one we think would be very fun to work in!

What you’ll need to make it yours:

  • A degree in marketing or a related field
  • Great people skills and written communication
  • Passion for gaming and a desire to work in a fast-paced startup

Why we love this job:

  • Finance and business operations are areas that are tricky to gain experience in, making this an invaluable internship
  • You’re also given the option to help in partnerships and biz dev within Immortals if you choose
  • Part of the internship involves evaluating investment + expansion opportunities for the company

What you’ll need to make it yours:

  • Skills in Excel and PowerPoint, including financial modelling
  • A base understanding of accounting, through education or work experience
  • An interest in, and the ability to, think through complex business models

Why we love this job:

  • We tend to be pretty fond of any job that appears with a team from the Overwatch League
  • It’s a position to really make an influence on this team, from their marketing and sales objectives to general operation of the org
  • They’re hiring for someone to work in Vancouver where their fanbase is, rather than California like some other OWL teams

What you’ll need to make it yours:

  • Bachelor’s degree & strong familiarity with Blizzard’s esports titles
  • A track record producing successful marketing & sales campaigns
  • Leadership skills and experience building out teams yourself.

Why we love this job:

  • Social media and community with SteelSeries - it was always going to make the cut, wasn’t it?
  • SteelSeries is a company that has supported esports since the early days!
  • Their already-huge social following means you can really #MakeYourMark in this position

What you’ll need to make it yours:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field, or the equivalent experience
  • Three years experience managing social media for a major brand
  • Three years managing community groups through multiple channels

Why we love this job:

  • Full time remote work! We can always count on WIN to bring in the goods
  • We often see remote writing, design and software engineering jobs, so data is a sector we’re glad to see covered!
  • WIN don’t specify the experience you need - just impress them with your skills

What you’ll need to make it yours:

  • Ability to work autonomously without being micromanaged
  • Knowledge of what methods are best for collecting large amounts of data
  • Able to communicate the reasoning behind decisions about their work

Why we love this job:

  • We don’t get to post game narrative writing often, but a job on Overwatch definitely fits the bill!
  • You’ll be able to help shape the story of a title back by the giants at Blizzard and that has the attention from the Overwatch League
  • It’s a chance to get deep into Overwatch lore as you expand and maintain its universe

What you’ll need to make it yours:

  • 3 years of experience as a writer / story developer (which is why it fits into the intermediate category of our site, rather than senior!)
  • At least one shipped AAA title under your belt where you were a game writer or designer
  • Brilliant understanding of Overwatch and its universe

Why we love this job:

  • We don’t want to sound like a broken record, but full time social media work has to make the list!
  • ASUS isn’t putting a massive gate of entry on this job, and only ask for 1-2 years of experience
  • You’ll have a strong focus on ROG - the esports and gaming arm that ASUS owns that you’ll see all over the scene

What you’ll need to make it yours:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related area
  • 1-2 years of experience in marketing or communications in an agency or a relevant industry
  • Experience producing reports to check in with the progress of your social campaigns

Why we love this job:

  • It’s one of the best creative jobs we’ve seen for a while, expanding on and dreaming up the lore that surrounds PUBG
  • From there, you’d produce content around the lore you’ve ideated, which means you’ll be able to take your ideas truly to life
  • The creative process is all yours! From internal ops even to finding an agency to outsource to

What you’ll need to make it yours:

  • Five years of experience in story development
  • Experiencing working with an agency to produce content
  • Must be a PUBG player!

Why we love this job:

  • Look at the title. That’s why
  • You’ll produce opportunities for fans to interact with influencers and talent from the OWL
  • You’d get to work on a league that is at the forefront of what esports leagues have tried to do before

What you’ll need to make it yours:

  • Three years experience in influencer marketing, PR or a related field
  • A bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent work experience
  • A track record of bringing influencer partnerships through from start to finish
