Weekly Esports Jobs Roundup #5

The team behind HitmarkerJobs.com is back with more essential reading for people looking to find great jobs in the esports industry.

Welcome back to another edition of our Weekly Roundup, where we look over the past week to find you a sweet selection of the biggest and best jobs in esports.

February has been a strange month so far, with an overall downturn in jobs being posted, but a significant upturn in the number of candidates and companies signing up with us.

What we take from this is that there's quite clearly a serious demand for gaming careers as 2018 moves forward, but perhaps still not quite the supply of quality opportunities from the organisations doing the hiring and recruiting. Hopefully this changes quickly, but rest assured that we're doing the hard work looking for openings every single day so that you don't have to!

In total there were 61 new roles posted on Hitmarker last week, a reduction of 32.22% from the week before, but there were still some amazing companies and teams looking for new staff.

Before we get into them, here's the story of the past seven days by the numbers:

• These 61 new esports jobs came from 37 different organisations based in 6 different countries, with Blizzard leading the way this time around having posted 11.48% of the total available roles!

• Location-wise the USA was less dominant than ever before with just 40.98% of jobs coming from across the pond, while Remote opportunities took a big jump up in popularity to 37.70% and the UK was also resurgent with 13.11% of all esports roles being available on these here shores. Germany and Sweden each accounted for 3.28% with FrontSide Esports' General Manager opening being the only job post from Canada (1.64%).

• Contract-wise full-time paid positions were the runaway leader once more this week with 57.38%, followed by volunteer opportunities at 16.39% and freelance ones at 14.75%. There was a good uptick in internships, which accounted for 8.20% of the total jobs posted, and there were also a couple of cool part-time positions too (3.28%)!

• Overall 77.09% of the openings posted on Hitmarker this week were paid, which is an increase of almost 5% on last week! Not too shabby!

With all of that being said, there's only one place to start this off...

There were office high fives all around when Ninjas in Pyjamas graced Hitmarker with these two awesome roles on Tuesday night.

Opportunities to work with legendary teams in esports don't come around that often, especially not ones based in Europe, so if either of these positions are in your wheelhouse then don't delay a minute more because applications have already been flying in!

If you've got a great CV/resume and a short but memorable cover letter, then it's time to #GONINJAS.

Next up is our favourite UK-based role of the week...

2K have made some of our favourite titles going back years and are one of the most established names in gaming, but this role is genuinely achievable for an exceptional candidate without too much experience.

If you're a whiz with social media and have experience of esports communities, in addition to a strong knowledge of both established and up-and-coming influencer talent, then there's no reason not to throw your hat into the ring for this!

So if you're able to work in the UK show a little belief in yourself, read the full description and apply now.

By the way, Ninjas in Pyjamas weren't the only professional esports organisation to join us this week...

Team Digital Chaos also got involved with a couple of excellent new openings in the ATL, including this Team Manager position for someone with at least 3 years professional management experience (ideally in esports).

If you've got that in your locker and you're adaptable, detail oriented, personable and comfortable when moderating disagreements then you're probably the type of person they want to hear from!

Moving on from one splendid US-based esports opportunity to another...

GumGum were another organisation to succumb to our wily charms this week, signing up with us on Wednesday to drop this unique position in Santa Monica for someone with a deep understanding of major social media platforms and the esports industry.

As you might expect, this one has also been extremely popular because of the cool day-to-day responsibilities and the fact insurance, 401k, unlimited vacation and monthly happy hours are all offered in the "perks" section!

It's well worth taking a look at what GumGum do in general, because in spite of their zany name they're involved in some very cool stuff!

We might have already had one awesome Community Manager role from the UK, but there's room for another one right?

We're now calling Jellymedia the "ghostwhite of Blackpool" having read up on their company and what they do every day (for reference, "ghostwhite" is the name of our parent company.)

They signed up at Hitmarker this week and posted four really good roles based out of the famous Lancashire seaside town, although this one was our favourite. It's another that has proven to be hot property, though, so if you want to go for it then you shouldn't hesitate much longer!

For the record, they're looking for someone with at least a year in gaming, sports, entertainment or media who has strong written a verbal communications.

Now for a change of pace, with the first remote role in this roundup...

This opening with AVGL is a great chance for a recent graduate to gain experience, grow fast and make an impact, but you'll need a couple of years experience in event management behind you to even be considered.

The compensation offered is negotiable and can be split hourly or weekly, offering good flexibility, and it's probably a big part of the reason why we've seen some really strong applications coming in!

We all know that collegiate esports is booming at the minute, so this represents a great chance to get involved in it before it really explodes. Why wait any longer? Click here to see the full description and apply!

Next up is another team who joined the esports jobs revolution earlier in the week...

Having dealt with one of Circa's leaders on DM a little bit this week we got a very good feeling about these guys and were even moved enough to promote their role to a featured slot.

Kenneth was already happy with the quality of applications he was getting through Hitmarker at that point, so why not make him delighted by sending yours in now (if you're a killer video editor, that is!)

Circa are offering competitive pay, sponsorship products AND travel expenses to all events, so they're clearly doing things the right way and treating their people with respect - something we'd like to see a lot more of, in all honesty.

And now for something a little different...

TeamGates were born out of Trick2g's popularity and are looking for a Swiss Army Knife candidate with a broad set of skills to join their family on a remote, volunteer basis - at least initially.

The commitment here is fairly minimal in the short-term when it comes to hours and there is pay on offer for someone who comes in and smashes it, meaning the long-term incentive is strong! So if you want to maintain and update their awesome website, then you know what to do.

Finally, it wouldn't be a true Weekly Roundup without an internship...

You've all heard of Method, right? Well, they need someone to handle social media match reporting ahead of the Gfinity Elite Series, which starts in a matter of weeks. For this one you would need to be available on Friday afternoons and on Saturdays (morning through to early evening), for a total duration of around eight weeks (all times GMT).

If you can spare these hours and you're well versed in English with a strong knowledge of Street Fighter V, FIFA 18 and Rocket League then it's probably time to send in an application!

However, if it isn't suitable for you then be sure to check out the four other internships (including a paid one) which were added to the board this week.

That's all for this week! We're trying to keep this whole thing a lot shorter and sweeter, without skimping on giving you the key information on the jobs themselves, so we hope you're enjoying the new format.

Finally, don't forget that whether you're a candidate or a company you can sign up and use Hitmarker completely free! Just follow this link to get involved with THE BIGGEST JOBS BOARD IN AAAAAAAALLLL OF ESPORTS!

We'll see you around the same time next week,

The Hitmarker Team
