The Esports Manager will help lead the strategy, planning, and execution of esports for BANDAI NAMCO in North America. S/he will collaborate with the Brand team, PR team, Events team, international counterparts, and agency partners to develop and manage esports programs for BANDAI NAMCO franchises. This position requires outstanding management and communication skills for highly effective teamwork across several teams and individuals internally and externally to ensure success.

The Esports Manager is a driven self-starter who can adapt quickly to changing objectives, opportunities, and challenges in the fast-paced esports industry. The candidate takes organization, details, and deadlines seriously. S/he can work independently while managing relationships with internal BANDAI NAMCO teams, external partners, tournament organizers, production teams, players, and sponsors. The ideal candidate is a leader with experience developing competitive live and online tournaments, working with esports facilitators, evaluating key esports strategies, anticipating business needs, and implementing high impact solutions across the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop multi-year global esports strategy and lead internal/external teams on implementation across multiple brands
  • Lead Esports strategy and build consensus with key stakeholders across BANDAI NAMCO.
  • Manage and optimize external partnerships with tournament organizers, production teams, players, vendors, and other esports related organizations and cultivate new relationships as needed.
  • Identify and champion titles for inclusion into esports initiatives
  • Oversee the operations for existing esports programs and support participation in consumer, trade, and esports events.
  • Track and report project status and KPIs in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Research, survey and deliver event post mortems to optimize future event improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 2-4 years esports experience in the development and execution of competitive gaming leagues and tournaments online and offline or sports organizations management (or relevant experience)
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of brand management, social marketing, and/or community management experience (or relevant experience)
  • Knowledge of livestreaming on platforms such as Twitch, YouTube Gaming, and Facebook Live
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in partner management (or relevant experience)
  • Ability to develop, communicate, and champion strategies and plans
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, excellent organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working collaboratively with product teams, marketing teams, and other stakeholders
  • Experience working with international teams and exposure to multi-cultural environments
  • Develop, maintain and track overall esports budget(s), familiar with the P&L process & analysis is a plus
  • Create and seek out partnership & sponsorship opportunities
  • Develop & execute promotional strategies & schedules in collaboration with brand and community teams
  • Event, and/or tournament planning, management, and budget experience
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, tools, and best practices
  • Able to interface effectively with a variety of people, including casual gamers, professional gamers, spectators, and business professionals
  • Passion for video games, especially BANDAI NAMCO titles
  • Ability to travel, including international travel
  • Bachelor Degree
