The Director of eSports will serve as the subject matter expert with responsibility for developing eSports across the organization. The incumbent will work closely with all eSports partners to develop, operate and execute the organization’s eSports business plan and initiatives. Specifically, this position will help lead and support the implementation of the eSports business plan for Events DC inclusive of event attraction, branding and visibility and community engagement.

  • Lead eSports business development for the organization.
  • Create and manage a process for evaluating business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Develop business and financial proposals for events and other eSports initiatives.
  • Demonstrate the ability to negotiate and close a deal.
  • Conduct client, industry, market, and consumer research and intelligence.
  • Develop a network of relationships with colleges, universities, and professional leagues in the eSports community.
  • Develop/leverage extensive industry network inclusive of various eSports organizations
  • Create and manage and active sales pipeline through consistent outreach, introductions, and leveraging industry connections.
  • Facilitate smooth handoff to venue/facility operations for all business development/sales opportunities as well as execution of all eSports events executed in the venues.
  • Manage business relationships with key partners.


  • Knowledge of eSports management, landscape, key players and trends.
  • Demonstrate established relationships with various eSports organizations, game publishers, professional gaming teams, brands, productions companies, tournament organizers and venues.
  • Ability to positively influence business goals and strategies.
  • Capable of effectively communicating data-driven insights and business recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Exhibit strong analytical skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA strongly preferred.
  • 4-5 years’ experience working on business development at a leading traditional sports league and/or eSports league, agency, media and/or content company.
  • Highly skilled in commercial and/or partnership/sponsorship negotiation.
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis and modeling.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deliverables at once in a fast-paced environment
