Minimum qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in a technical leadership position and shipped titles within the game industry.
  • Experience in the optimization and architecture of video game technology and development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies (e.g., XP, Scrum, etc.).
  • Ability to work through diverse challenges and a desire to find ways to optimize the game development process.
  • Ability to delegate and motivate large teams and technical experts in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Ability to make complex information comprehensible to less technical audiences.
  • Excellent leadership, organization, priority management, and interpersonal communication skills.

As Technical Director, you will be responsible for defining the technical strategy for the Stadia Games internal studio. You will collaborate with the Head of Tech on setting the overall tech strategy for all 1P games. Your role will be to become an expert in the new Stadia platform, challenging the organizations various teams to ensure that the development pipeline is optimal for a wide range of developers.

In this role, you will help define optimal pipelines for future games across Stadia’s portfolio. You will work in close collaboration with the Producer and the various Leads to define the technical specifications of games in development, assess the difficulty of tasks at hand, and bring team members together around a shared goal.

Responsibilities

  • Define technical requirements and technical constraints with a view to realize the creative vision of our games.
  • Guarantee that games are delivered on time with the expected level of quality needed while ensuring the various production teams have efficient and salable tool chains.
  • Define and oversee the debugging, polishing, and live service strategies to ensure that an always live, iterative, and data driven approach is taken throughout development.
  • Determine any necessary applications or services enhancements to meet project needs and ensure the feasibility of these upgrades.
  • Anticipate technological advances, understand the issues brought about by new industry trends, and implement solutions that leverage these changes by tapping into the best Google tech available across the company.
