About the job

At Google, User Experience Researchers (UXRs) help everyone focus on the user. In this role, you will create understanding and empathy around user needs, stated and unstated, for your entire product team including designers, product managers, and engineers. You will do so by conducting primary research, exploring the behaviors and motivations of our users through methods like field visits, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. Your research will help us create useful, usable, and delightful new products and features for people as well as continually innovating on our existing products. You’ll inspire change at all stages of product development by delivering compelling, written, in-person and visual presentations on your findings.

The UXR community at Google is unique. As a User Experience Researcher for Stadia, you will join a team that’s focused on enabling developers and enterprise customers — you’ll collaborate closely with colleagues on the consumer side to ensure a cohesive experience for all.

Stadia is Google’s premier Video Game platform, designed for everyone. We are working on custom built hardware and rapidly evolving open source technology to deliver a seamless gaming experience across multiple devices. Stadia provides players new ways to discover, engage, and connect with content with no download required thanks to our cutting-edge data centers.   • Analyze complex systems and how our tools fit within organizations and workflows.
  • Identify and prioritize high-impact UX research opportunities by having a strong understanding of technical requirements, business objectives, and our partners’ development processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand research needs, quickly scope research projects, and develop clear/detailed research plans.
  • Conduct research activities including in-context fieldwork, cognitive walkthroughs, interviews, surveys, design sprints, literature reviews, usability studies, and other forms of formative, iterative, and evaluative research.
  • Advocate research findings and insights through oral and written presentations, as well as by working with other researchers, designers, product managers, and engineers to impact the final product.
