In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends and has since gone on to become the most played PC game in the world and an essential driver of the dramatic growth of esports. Publishing’s role is to introduce our products to players and form authentic relationships with them through compelling storytelling.

Communications team members aim to shape Riot’s worldwide identity and reputation. We cover everything important to the Riot brand and work with all teams, sharing news with millions of players around the world. We love games and enjoy telling the great stories that come with them.

As a Writer, reporting into the Worldwide Publishing (WWP) Communications Lead, you'll wrangle verbs and corral errant adjectives within a comms team to communicate Worldwide Publishing’s values through internal presentations, stories and external communications about who we are, what we do, and why we do it across multiple channels, including and social media. You understand how to write for specific audiences and wield a range of voices and tones, from playful to professional and serious. You endeavor to communicate with a balance of transparency and clarity that's thoughtful, well-crafted, and authentic.

You'll source content by always wondering, "What should folks know about Worldwide Publishing?" Your background in content management, writing, or content production will help you provide meaningful stories that'll connect players, fans, and potential Rioters with Worldwide Publishing.

  • Craft technically excellent, well-written newsletters, stories, scripts, presentations, and more that share with the world who we are, what we do, and why we do what we do
  • Collaborate with internal partners to help Rioters around WWP produce content sharing their accomplishments and helping others understand their strategy
  • Contribute to our brand/content strategy and editorial calendar for all Worldwide Publishing comms channels
  • Edit content written by other Rioters
  • Ghostwrite content for WWP senior leadership in a style that marries their tone with the Riot tone

Required Qualifications:

  • You should bring a bachelor's degree in English or a related field and at least three years of experience with high-quality, long- and short-form writing; you've probably worked as a web content expert, editor, or in advertising or corporate creative services, though where you wrote matters less than what you wrote
  • Your nose for a good story helps you imagine and find the stories and angles that share the culture of Riot. You have a command of the English language and the prospect of perfecting a message excites you
  • You relish a good brainstorm, savor constructive criticism and can partner withdiverse team to reach a collective goal

Desired Qualifications:

  • You express the 'why' behind the decisions you make with your copy whilst ensuring what you are creating will resonate with other gamers

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will look at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about the experiences of players, this could be the role for you!

Our Perks:

We offer medical, dental, and vision plans that cover you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children. Life insurance, parental leave, plus short-term and long-term disability coverage are also available. Riot will support your retirement benefits with a company match, and double down on your donations of time and money to non-profit charitable organizations. Balance between work and personal life is encouraged with open paid time off, and a play fund so you can broaden and deepen your personal relationship with games.
