The Director of Digital Commerce is responsible for owning the success of all aspects of the eCommerce business including business planning, content strategy, promotional campaigns, digital marketing, site merchandising, customer experience, web analytics and web technologies. The person in this role is a cross-functional leader who is comfortable working across multiple teams including but not limited to: Product Management, Marketing, Customer Care, Operations and Finance.

Responsibilities include setting the vision across site experience, exploration and conversion; developing and motivating a digital team to ensure quality interaction across all digital devices; and leading eCommerce capabilities, driving effective onsite promotions, improving site conversion, and aligning with the company's omni-channel strategies to deliver a superior brand experience.

This role requires someone who has a proven track record of developing and driving a differentiated digital commerce business that has resulted in significant and sustained profitable growth. The ideal candidate is a thought leader in mobile-first eCommerce, possessing the ability to influence across the organization, and expertise in leading others towards achieving a common goal.


  • Implement appropriate strategies to improve online user experience and drive financial performance. Continue a culture of test and learn; advise or identify new test ideas with the goal of driving increased revenue per visit and an improved customer experience across all device types.
  • Provide business direction/guidance on the day-to-day operations of, ensuring the websites’ merchandising and content, along with social integration and digital marketing strike an appropriate balance and support for eCommerce goals.
  • Build and optimize an outstanding customer experience across the purchase funnel to minimize friction points and drive toward conversion and repurchase.
  • Direct efforts to optimize existing site features including content, on-site search, navigation hierarchy and page usability.
  • Work to optimize the eCommerce channel to achieve new customer acquisitions, revenue per customer, products per customer and optimal cost-to-acquire targets.
  • Partner with content and Social Media managers, editors, designers, developers, and other staff to ensure alignment with the brand strategy platform.
  • Drive accountability for results by reviewing weekly business and identifying actions that drive improvements in site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Closely track and drive strategic decisions to positively impact KPI’s using site analytics (i.e. traffic, abandoned cart rate, conversion, page views per visit, average order size, items per order, etc.) across desktop and mobile channels.
  • Analyze KPI’s and metrics to identify trends and recommend activity to generate sales growth and maximize conversion rates.


  • 5+ years previous experience in eCommerce or digital marketing with a strong track record working in the digital space.
  • 5+ years previous experience in a leadership role with direct reports and people management responsibilities.
  • Must be well-versed in customer acquisition and retention techniques with a proven track record in driving significant traffic and sales growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a P&L or line of business. Core operational strength and the ability to make the right budget decisions to drive business success.
  • Demonstrated experience managing quantitative information and iterative testing to drive business decisions.
  • Ability to incorporate a strong aesthetic sense into our work, to evaluate copy and content, and to align marketing messages for a superior customer experience and brand communication.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with an entrepreneurial spirit, thinking creatively to grow company profitability.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to sell ideas and clearly explain concepts.
  • Ability to work well across the organization and with 3rd parties.
  • Familiar with retail and eCommerce trends and best practices.
  • Curious and like to experiment; adaptable and comfortable with change.
  • Convey a can-do, positive attitude towards tackling problems.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what's necessary.
  • Experience in consumer electronics, gaming, and/or consumer packaged goods is a plus.
