The Legal Specialist - Tournaments and Events will support The Pokémon Company International's Organized Play and event management teams by reviewing and drafting agreements, negotiating with vendors, and acting as the point of contact for any Legal matters pertaining to this group.

What You Will Do

  • Through domestic and possibly international travel, provide on-site support to the teams responsible for operating the Play! Pokémon organized play program.
  • Draft and negotiate venue, hotel, and service-provider contracts related to Pokémon-operated and 3rd-party operated tournaments.
  • Work closely with attorneys to advise client teams on gaming-related issues, tournament system rulemaking, volunteer background check policies, and on-site event issues.
  • Develop tools, policies, processes, resources and checklists for use by business clients as needed.
  • Analyze risk and problem-solving under pressure, and demonstrate sound judgment and ability to identify legal issues in ambiguous situations.

What You Will Bring

  • 3+ years of legal or relevant business-side experience.
  • Excellent legal and informal written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Familiarity with competitive play environments and laws applicable to esports and game tournaments strongly preferred.
  • An ability to handle a variety of assignments, balance priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This role will have significant travel requirements during peak tournament season (20%), and may require international travel as well.
