The Washington Post is seeking an experienced editor to help expand its coverage of the growing video gaming industry and the world of esports.

The ideal candidate for this contract position will have a passion for video gaming and esports as well as a proven track record of editing stories of various lengths and styles, from breaking news to features, with a strong copy editor’s eye. The candidate must be capable of balancing long-term projects with quick-turn editing. We are looking for an editor familiar with the editorial standards and style of The Post who can also handle story assignment responsibilities for a team of writers. This contract has a one-year term and potential for renewal.

A proven ability in digital storytelling – employing graphics, video and other modes of conveying information – would be a plus. Candidates should be self-starters with a willingness to embrace a start-up culture. Some night and weekend work will be required.

The job will be based in our Washington newsroom and is not eligible for remote work.

Interested applicants should send a cover letter outlining a vision for the role, resume and three samples of their work (as a pdf) to Mike Hume at the email linked to the Apply button by July 31.
