Player Support

  • Promote a culture of preparation such that players focus on practice, sleep, nutrition, stress, and overall readiness to play.
  • Work with managers and coaches to manage scholarship contracts and track player responsibilities including workouts, solo queue, GPA, streaming, community services, and other requirements.
  • Coordinate workouts and meetings with team fitness trainer and psychologist.
  • Work with players and coaches to schedule classes around target practice times.
  • Work with sponsors and vendors to ensure players have peripherals and apparel.
  • Connect players to research opportunities and help the team meet research commitments.
  • Work with players on personal and professional development, connecting them with opportunities through the program.
  • Work with team staff on team expectations, mentorship, and conflict resolution.
  • Celebrate milestones and birthdays.
  • Engage with parents and families of players.
  • Coordinate team travel including transportation, lodging, visas, etc.
  • Coordinate with content creators (videography, social media, streamers) to highlight players and teams.
  • Work with social media to highlight players and teams and program accomplishments.

Job Essential Function 2

Percent of Time: 20%

Event Planning

  • Manage all staff travel and entertainment.
  • Plan quarterly team bonding activities.
  • Help coordinate tryouts.
  • Plan program events like Fall Kick-Off, retreats, end-of-year banquets, etc.

Job Essential Function 3

Percent of Time: 30%

Administrative Support

  • Process financial transactions for the program.
  • Manage the UCI Esports Industry Advisory Board.
  • Manage the UCI Esports Advisory Board.
  • Manage and work with relevant intern staff, supervising projects and providing professional development.

Job Essential Function 4

Percent of Time: 20%

Recruitment

  • Manage and maintain UCI Esports Interest Form.
  • Identify and engage with potential recruits, sharing program and admissions information with them online and through tours.
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategy, including identifying target individuals, outreach, and working recruitment events.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree; or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • At least 2 years of event coordination experience.
  • Knowledge of the collegiate esports landscape, culture, and community.
  • Understanding of UCI campus resources.
  • Demonstrated self-starter.
  • Experience managing teams and understanding of conflict resolution principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organization, and calendar management.
  • Coordinate team travel (including international) and attend conferences, tournaments, and other events.
  • Experience with student professional development and providing mentorship.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software, Google tools, major social media platforms, and Discord.
  • Exceptional ability to project manage, think backwards, and plan outcomes.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Deep knowledge of the esports and gaming industry and or have existing professional relationships with tournament operators, production studios, and game publishers and developers.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and relationship management skills.
  • Basic software skills: CRM, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote or similar programs.
  • Travel to conferences, tournaments and trade shows (weekends may be required).
  • A native grasp of esports culture and lingo.
  • A network of esports and general gaming connections.
